Message from the ISM Director Sabine Schommer

On 30 January 2022, ISM will again open its doors again after a two-year break. We are very much looking forward to the fair and we are very delight about the strong support we receive by our exhibitors and our partner associations. Around 1,200 exhibitors from over 60 countries is a great result in these challenging times. A total of 26 national pavilions from over 20 countries have registered with mostly unchanged stand sizes. The popularity of numerous start-ups and newcomers also shows how important ISM is for the sweets and snack market. On the buyer side, too, a positive development is emerging with a very good registration level of important trade buyers, including Aldi, Catz BV, Edeka, Galeria Markthalle, Gebr. Heinemann, Hagen Grote, Kaufland, Metro, REWE, Spar and Suntjen.

With the backing of the national and international exhibitor community, our long-standing partner associations as well as important buyers, together we offer a very good starting position for the re-launch of the two fairs. And it is important to us that after a two-year break, it is important that we finally offer our exhibiting companies a global platform again with ISM to present their product innovations and important trends of the future. In addition, we know from discussions with important industry representatives that meeting on a personal level is essential for the business of the participating companies.

Important exhibitors and the leading associations of the German industry also show great commitment to ISM: Both trade fairs are of central importance for the confectionery and snack sector as a business meeting, trend or innovation platform, especially in these still challenging times. In addition, the new hybrid format with the new digital platform ISM & ProSweets @home offers opportunities to get in touch with business partners, discover new products and do intensive networking, especially for industry players who cannot be on site.

Certainly, in these times we can only expect a concentrated offering of the fair and a limited flow of visitors. But we firmly believe that with ISM 2022 we will be able to create a spirit of optimism again and send a positive signal to the industry. And our comprehensive hygiene and protection concept #B-SAFE4business also contributes to the overall safety of our trade fair participants.

That way, we are very much looking forward to welcoming the international sweets and snacks at ISM 2022.
