Apex Dynamics debuts gearbox range at Automation UK

Apex Dynamics is debuting its new generation, high efficiency BKM gearbox range at the new Automation UK trade event this summer, which is taking place on 20-21 June at the CBS Area, Coventry, UK.

At the show, Apex Dynamics is launching the all new BKM high efficiency hypoid gearbox range, which marks a major expansion of the company’s UK product offering. The BKM line has been designed to complement Apex Dynamics’ existing range of planetary gearboxes and is a direct response to customer demand for more products from the company.

Marketed by Apex Dynamics’ Apex Automation subsidiary, the high efficiency hypoid gear units comprise MV direct motor mount, IEC motor mount, and ST servo motor mount variants. A new generation of hypoid gearboxes, the BKM range is suited to general purpose machine applications, delivering improved efficiency and performance to help meet the ongoing demand for reduced energy consumption.

Made from quality, durable materials, the BKM gearboxes come as gearbox only or geared motor combinations, can handle up to 750Nm torque, offer 0.09kW-5.5kW motor input power and are suitable for 2, 4 and 6 pole motors, with a range of mounting, input and output options available.

Other products that will be also be on show at Automation UK include the popular GL/GLS series planetary gearboxes, with low noise, long service life, optimised output torque, heavy radial load capacity up to 7200N, and low backlash. Ideal for robotics, AGV and AMR applications, GL/GLS planetary gearboxes offer high precision, and the unique rotary housing permits a drive wheel or pulley to be mounted over the exterior.

Automation UK marks a brand new addition to the trade show calendar, as it has been organised by British Automation & Robot Association (BARA) with the goal of “bringing industrial automation and robotics to life”. It is aimed specifically at businesses operating in the automation and robotics markets, as discussions will take place about the contribution robotics and systems integrations will make to future economic growth.

Mike Gulliford, Managing Director of Apex Dynamics UK, said: “Automation UK is a brand new show and we are looking forward to seeing how effective it is for connecting with the marketplace. It is conveniently located for our base in Staffordshire and features distributors that our products complement. Having generally moved away from trade shows recently, we are reassured by the connection to the PPMA that this will be a successful show and are confident it is worthwhile attending. We are hoping to have lots of positive discussions with existing customers and to identify new customers at the show.

“We are delighted to be able to launch our new BKM range of high efficiency hypoid gearboxes at the show, expanding our offering to existing customers and opening up new markets. We found our customers wanted to purchase different types of gearboxes from us, along with planetary units, and have now launched this product range to meet this need.

“Our full range of gearboxes is designed to meet the needs of the industry and we specialize only in gearbox technology, making the best possible products. No one else in the marketplace offers a five year warranty, and few can match our 2-3 week lead times or the capabilities of market-leading patented designs. Additionally, all our gearboxes come ATEX-rated as standard; meaning they all offer the potential to perform in hazardous environments.”

“The market for planetary gearboxes is buoyant, with people finding new machine control applications with more precision required by the day. Surveys show that the market grew by around 15% annually during the pandemic and it is expected to continue to expand at least 10% per year in the future. We are seeing particular interest in our products from the food processing and packaging industry, including end of line operations, as well as pick and place applications.

“Our expert team of engineers will be on hand at Automation UK to answer any questions visitors have. Come down and meet us at the show at stand D40 or get in touch with me beforehand for a briefing on the stand.”
