Chocolate Week Returns: Industry experts relaunch celebrated event

Chocolate Week, once voted the most popular themed week in the UK, is set to make a comeback this October. Spearheaded by a committee of renowned experts and industry professionals, the week-long event aims to promote high-quality chocolate and celebrate the nation’s favourite treat.

Key figures driving the revival include Aneesh Popat, founder and chocolatier at The Chocolatier; Paul A. Young, chocolatier and pastry chef; Jennifer Earle, founder of Chocolate Ecstasy Tours and an international chocolate judge; Spencer Hyman, craft chocolate expert and co-founder of Cocoa Runners; and Kate Johns, the original founder of Chocolate Week and Managing Director at Nudge PR.

“We are thrilled to bring back Chocolate Week, a platform that not only celebrates the rich diversity of fine chocolate but also supports the talented individuals and businesses behind it,” said Kate Johns.

Throughout the week, chocolate companies across the UK are encouraged to host events and promotions, ranging from tastings and talks to demonstrations, new product launches, chocolate sculptures, unique experiences, and exclusive discounts.

Event Highlights

Cocoa Runners Craft Chocolate Fair (12-13 October): The week kicks off with a two-day event featuring tastings, talks, and a market showcasing craft chocolate makers from the UK and beyond, including Pump Street, Chocolarder, Tosier, and Dormouse. Held at Fidelio Café and concert venue in Farringdon, London, the event runs from 11 am to 6 pm and is free to attend. Highlights include a discussion on health and chocolate with Professor Tim Spector, a cacao ceremony, and pairings of chocolate with wine and coffee.

Friends of Chocolate Dinner (14 October): Hosted by Aneesh Popat at Scarlett Green in London, this dinner promises a three-course menu with tickets priced at £55, including a £5 donation to the Hurricane Relief Fund for St Vincent.

Chocolate Unwrapped (19 October): This multi-sensory journey of indulgence takes visitors through a chocolate experience from bean to bar, concluding with chocolate cocktails. Brands such as Pump Street, Knoops, Melt Chocolates, Land Chocolate, and Cocoa Runners will present exclusive tastings, innovative pairings, and new creations.

Chocolate Week 2024 promises to be an unmissable celebration, inviting the industry to come together and showcase the finest in chocolate craftsmanship.
