The Sweets & Snacks Expo has showcased latest products and innovations in candy and snacks for more than 25 years and according to the event, these new products have “paved the way” for new flavour trends and consumer experiences in the industry and beyond. Host organisation the National Confectioners Association (NCA) announced top product and flavour trends will continue to be featured at the 2023 show in Chicago.
“The Sweets & Snacks Expo continues to be a significant driver in flavour and product trends for the confectionery and snack categories enhancing our retail attendees’ ability to delight their shoppers,” commented John Downs, President and CEO of NCA. “Attendees of this year’s show will be among the first to sample and experience these new trends helping them stay one step ahead of their competition.”
Some of the trends attendees can expect to see this year include brand collaborations, flavour mashups, social media friendly interactive treats and all about options (which recognises that consumers all snack differently and confectionery and snack companies are offering a range of package sizes and product types as a result).
Bringing new, innovative products to market is a big focus of the show, as it features a product showcase, specialty market and also presents the Most Innovative New Product Awards where retail and category leaders representing 85% of the category judge over 300 products and recognise 55 products in the confectionery and snack industry over 11 categories. According to the NCA, 2021 alone registered over 200 product submissions from almost 100 companies.
This year’s Sweets & Snacks Expo will take place in Chicago, from 22-25 May at McCormick Place.
