With a new Sustainability Hub and a wide range of initiatives to making Fi Europe 2022 environmentally friendly, the event is setting new standards this year in its in-person and online events, as companies strive for a greener and increasingly more responsible food industry.

At Fi Europe, the new Sustainability Hub will offer two days of robust conference programming looking at topics related to food waste, regenerative agriculture, the circular economy, and more. Expert speakers at the Hub will be exploring ways to measure companies’ environmental impact and learn about future scenarios for more sustainable food systems.

Dorothy Shaver, Global Food and Sustainability Director at Unilever, will be engaging on the importance and urgency of involving the consumer in more sustainable consumption and lifestyle choices. Employees from market research firms Innova Market Insights and Mintel will present on different topics around sustainability. Emma Schofield at Mintel will be exploring key sustainable ingredients of the future including those produced by precision fermentation.

Supply chain disruption will take “centre stage”, as sessions including the Founder of Fresh Land discussing how to create more sustainable supply chain models, tips on developing a collaborative network of food production hubs with stakeholder engagement and a talk by Solidaridad on reclaiming sustainability and transparency with tech solutions.

Fi Europe remains committed to sustainability as it explores new ways to reduce the carbon footprint as the show will be powered by 100% renewable energy with all materials made from recycled material where possible. During the event, attendees can register to attend the Women’s Networking Breakfast, which will focus on address topics on gender equity in the food and beverage space or attend an open networking reception developed in partnership with Women in Nutraceuticals, a nonprofit focused on gender equity in the nutraceutical space.

“Food ingredients Europe has, for years, been committed to bringing the food and beverage industry the latest information on sustainability initiatives,” said Heather Granato, Vice President of Partnerships and Sustainability. “At the same time, we work in partnership with the other events across Informa Markets to incrementally accelerate positive change by the events industry. Together, we can all take steps to ensure a more robust, inclusive and climate positive industry.”
