Pladis, the owner of McVitie’s and Godiva brands, have taken the decision to hire the former global marketing director of Bacardi, Dmitry Ivanov, as their Chief Commercial Officer.

The role has been newly created, and will allow Ivanov to oversee the company’s global marketing, digital and R&D teams, which are being brought together for the first time. Ivanov’s task is to “align them with a consumer-centric, commercial focus.”

Speaking about the appointment, Cem Karakas – the chief executive of Pladis – claimed that Ivanov’s arrival is the next natural step for the company, as they continue their “journey to build a commercial powerhouse”.

“We are leading the change across our industry and transforming our company to be even more digital, brand and consumer focused,” said Karakas.

“We are making new and much loved snacks faster and better than ever before, improving the field-to-shelf experience at every point.”

Prior to this position, Ivanov held marketing roles at Red Bull and P&G, before eventually ending up at Bacardi in 2009. There, Ivanov rose up the ranks and ended up as chief marketing officer of their global brands.

However, after just six months, Ivanov left following a management restructure, which then saw him join automotive group Inchcape.
