Fudge Kitchen has announced it will close all of its stores due to the Coronavirus situation becoming a growing concern for the health and safety of their workers and their families. The company gave the following statement:
“We had been trying to keep our shops open for as long as possible, to support both our staff and our customers through this difficult time. While the virus continues to spread and the situation becomes ever more serious, however, the safety of both is our absolute priority.
“Most of our staff come to work by public transport, all work in compact, historic shops, so we have come to the difficult decision to close all seven Fudge Kitchen shops in Cambridge, Canterbury, Bath, Edinburgh, Oxford, York and Windsor, from Monday March, 23 until government recommendations suggest it is safe to reopen. We will be retaining the vast majority of our much valued staff throughout this period and thank them for their tremendous hard work and understanding of this unprecedented situation.
“We will continue to supply online orders while stocks remain, but events change daily. While, to support our shops and their customers, notices in all their windows will give an individual offer code, giving free UK shipping when used in conjunction with any online sale, which, when redeemed, will be credited to that specific shop and acknowledged as their sale by our internal reward system.
“It is with great regret that I have made the decision to shut the seven Fudge Kitchen shops.” said Managing Director Sian Holt, “In 37 years of trading, we have never let our customers down, but these are extraordinary times; and we have an exceptional staff, who are the backbone of Fudge Kitchen and whose safety is paramount. I hope that by continuing our online sales for as long as possible, we can continue to serve our customers, whose loyalty and support we have always been grateful for, but particularly through these trying times.
“I wish you and your loved ones all the very best and look forward to seeing you safe and healthy on the other side.”
