Uncle Joe’s Mint Balls has secured its first major order for the US to supply US$64,000 of sweets to Cost Plus World Market, which has 257 speciality/import retail outlets across America.
The company won the deal to supply tins of Wildberry Gin, Rhubarb & Ginger Gin, Apple Cider and Dark Rum flavoured sweets with the California-based company after attending The Summer Fancy Food Show, in New York last month.
John Winnard, joint MD, Uncle Joe’s Mint Balls, based in Wigan, in the UK, said the firm is currently celebrating the centenary of production at its Toffee Works factory and received a visit from HRH Prince Charles in April, this year.
“Unlce Joe’s Mint Balls are popular as they’ve ever been in the US, but we are now making a concerted effort to make them more accessible to people living outside Britain,” said Winnard.
“It is great that we received our first major order for the US while we are celebrating the centenary of the Toffee Works.”
Uncle Joe’s Mint Balls are made by William Santus and Co and are still manufactured using the same traditional methods as when Mrs Santus originally made the sweets in her kitchen.
