Multivac Marking & Inspection have invested €2.5m ($2.9m) in order to expand their production capacity at their factory in Enger, Germany.
Work has already begun to optimise all logistics and assembly processes and to add an extension to the production hall have already begun, and all work is expected to be completed by April 2018.
Multivac make packaging for a host of products which include biscuits, snacks, cheese and coffee among others, and this investment will involve reorganising all of the process sequences in Machining, Goods Inward and Stores, Assembly and Dispatch departments.
Following the introduction of shop floor management systems, Multivac now want to implement more efficient planning and monitoring of operating processes, with shorter reaction times, improved handling of resources, and with a higher level of transparency.
The business itself has seen the number of machine orders increase by 25% between 2014 and 2016, while last year, the export share of the business shot up to 77%.
The growth in question is down to a rise in the sales figures across the board for all types of machines, however the sectors of conveyor belt labellers and inspection systems showed the strongest growth.
Meanwhile, the core market remains with the food industry, but the sector of life sciences and healthcare registered a significant increase in turnover.
To date, the plant in Engers employs 197 staff.
