Who’s Who – GNT EXBERRY®

EXBERRY® colours made from fruit, vegetables and plants can deliver a complete spectrum of vibrant shades in confectionery and beyond.

GNT is a global leader in natural colouring solutions and is known worldwide for its plant-based, sustainable EXBERRY® portfolio.

EXBERRY® colours are used by more than 3,000 manufacturers in more than 80 countries, including many of the world’s leading food and beverage brands.

Founded in 1978, GNT remains an independent, family-owned company and continues to grow by an average of more than 10% per year.

Products

EXBERRY® colours are created from non-GMO fruits, vegetables and plants without the use of chemical solvents.

The range features more than 400 products spanning the whole rainbow, with most options supporting completely clean and clear label declarations.

They are available in a wide variety of formats and can deliver effective results in almost any food and drink application, including fruit gums and jellies, aerated confectionery, chocolate, high‑boiled sweets, panned confectionery, pressed tablets and chewing gum.

EXBERRY® colours are valued worldwide for their vibrancy, versatility, stability, and ease of use.

Support

With almost 50 years’ experience using plant-based colours, GNT’s experts can provide manufacturers with full support throughout the entire product development process.

This includes colour selection and performance, stability testing, concept innovation, regulatory support, upscaling, and quality documentation.

GNT has multiple application laboratories worldwide, including in the UK, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Poland, United States, United Arab Emirates, Singapore and China.

Supplies

As a family-owned company, GNT is free to make the investments required to futureproof its operations.

It has spent decades building a strong and resilient supply chain that guarantees traceable, high-quality products year after year. The company works with the majority of its farmers on long–term contracts to ensure responsible agriculture with consistent results.

It also invests in long-term stockholding to allow for continued supplies even during unforeseen incidents such as the pandemic.

Sustainability

GNT is committed to the highest sustainability standards and is working to achieve ambitious targets to optimise its environmental and social impacts.

GNT was awarded an EcoVadis Platinum Award for sustainability performance last year, with a score that puts it in the top 1% of companies in the food manufacturing industry.

In 2025, around 80% of its agricultural raw materials and 90% of non-agricultural supplies were sourced from certified suppliers operating under recognized sustainability standards such as FSA, GLOBALG.A.P., and SMETA.

Its sustainability work involves a strong focus on supply chain risk management, with action taken to address potential environment-related challenges.

In addition, its Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions intensity per tonne of product have reduced by 29% since 2020, with water withdrawal down by 38%.

GNT is also officially committed to the United Nations Global Compact, aligning its strategy and operations with universally accepted principles on human rights, labour, environment, and anti-corruption.

Its greenhouse gas figures are independently verified, and it offers Product Environmental Footprint information for EXBERRY® colours to help brands present sustainability data on their product packaging.
