PROBAT acquires Royal Duyvis Wiener

PROBAT, the global leader in roasting plant and machinery, has announced its acquisition of Royal Duyvis Wiener, a renowned manufacturer in the cocoa, chocolate, and nuts & seeds processing industry. This strategic move significantly enhances PROBAT’s market position and underscores its ambitious expansion plans.

The acquisition follows PROBAT’s recent integration of AC Horn Manufacturing, marking another pivotal step in the company’s growth strategy. By bringing Royal Duyvis Wiener into its fold, PROBAT aims to leverage the synergies between the two companies to foster product and process innovation. This collaboration is expected to yield integrated solutions for cross-segment projects, further consolidating PROBAT’s technological leadership in the food processing sector.

Founded in 1885, Royal Duyvis Wiener has evolved from a manufacturer of cranes, lifts, and bridges to a global leader in cocoa and chocolate processing solutions. The company, based in the Zaan region of the Netherlands, offers a comprehensive range of products from laboratory equipment to large-scale production facilities, known for their quality and durability. However, recent structural challenges have posed significant hurdles. PROBAT’s robust support is anticipated to steer Royal Duyvis Wiener back towards a trajectory of success.

“Following our integration of AC Horn, acquiring Royal Duyvis Wiener with its exceptional product portfolio is another significant milestone. PROBAT’s expertise in coffee refinement, built over two centuries, combined with Duyvis Wiener’s capabilities, will create synergies that will shape the future of the cocoa and chocolate industry,” said PROBAT CEO Wim Abbing. He also acknowledged the challenging nature of the acquisition process and expressed gratitude to FAI for their expert support.

This acquisition positions PROBAT to better address the evolving needs of the international food sector with innovative and high-quality solutions. As the company continues to expand its footprint, customers can expect enhanced offerings and increased market presence in the cocoa and chocolate industry.

For the confectionery sector, this development promises exciting advancements and a bolstered supply chain, as PROBAT and Royal Duyvis Wiener collaborate to push the boundaries of what is possible in cocoa and chocolate processing.
