Nexture has published its first Group Sustainability Report, establishing a shared framework for reducing environmental impacts, improving responsible sourcing and developing more sustainable ingredient solutions.
Covering the Group’s 2025 performance across CSM Ingredients, HIFOOD, Italcanditi, Comprital and Prodotti Rubicone, the report highlights progress on issues relevant to confectionery manufacturers, including cocoa sourcing, sugar supply and alternatives to conventional ingredients.
Progress on Responsible Cocoa Sourcing
According to the report, 74% of Nexture’s cocoa was Rainforest Alliance certified in 2025, while 67% of its palm oil was RSPO certified. The Group aims to source all palm oil and derivatives from verified sustainable origins by 2030.
Nexture also introduced ESG due diligence into supplier onboarding, with plans to extend assessments to all new suppliers and expand Sedex monitoring across its businesses.
Responsible sugar sourcing is another priority. Italcanditi purchased approximately 20,000 tonnes of beet sugar during the year, while its Goes manufacturing facility in the Netherlands sourced all its sugar from Royal Cosun, an agricultural cooperative supporting improvements in soil health, water management and biodiversity.
Developing More Sustainable Confectionery Ingredients
Nexture reported that 94% of its electricity came from renewable supplies in 2025. Its Green Zeus energy-efficiency programme delivered more than €300,000 in annual savings, while the Group sent no waste to landfill.
By 2030, Nexture is targeting 90% recyclability for its packaging, alongside 45% recycled content and 45% renewable materials.
