Perfetti Van Melle looks to digitise

AI software platform provider o9 solutions announced that confectionery producer Perfetti Van Melle has selected its o9 Digital Brain platform in a move to transform the company’s supply chain planning capabilities and accelerate its digital transformation journey.

Perfetti Van Melle is a global confectionery business with brands such as Mentos, CHupa Chups, Fruit-tella, Smint and Airheads all in its portfolio. Last year, Mondelēz sold part of its gum business in the US, Canada and Europe to the company for a total of US$1.35 billion.

Perfetti Van Melle is looking to optimise its supply chain planning process to navigate complexity and volatility with today’s supply chain. According to o9, the o9 platform was chosen because of its scenario planning integrated with financial information, digital on-system IBP process providing end-to-end visibility and its Enterprise Knowledge Graph cube technology.

The joint partnership will equip the company with integrated business planning and supply chain planning capabilities.

“We have an ambitious goal at Perfetti Van Melle to digitise our supply chain planning capabilities,” explained Vincent Vloemans, Chief Information Officer of Perfetti Van Melle. “By doing so, we can turn data into meaningful insights to make more data-driven decisions across the value chain while continuing to create value for our consumers through innovative and gratifying high-quality products. We strive to be the world’s most innovative confectionery company.”

“We are thrilled that Perfetti Van Melle has selected the o9 Digital Brain platform to transform their integrated business planning processes digitally,” added Chakri Gottemukkala, Co-Founder and CEO of o9 Solutions. “o9 will provide Perfetti Van Melle with an end-to-end platform that will enable planners to have end-to-end supply chain visibility of constraints and costs, as well as improve decision making through the use of advanced scenario capabilities.”
