Vegan, gluten-free bar launched

Trupo Treats has launched new, vegan and gluten-free wafer bars, accommodating to consumers with plant-based, gluten-free or dairy-free diets, or those searching for a “better-for-you” alternative to childhood favourites.

Launching in three new flavours – Chocolate, Hazelnut and Peanut Butter – Trupo treats is offering the first vegan and gluten-free chocolate-covered wafer bars in the US. The bars are also Rainforest Alliance Certified, Non-GMO Project Verified, Gluten-Free Certified and OU Kosher.

The company was founded two years ago, by 24-year-old brothers and longtime vegans Charlie and Brian Trupo. Founded on the catchphrase “Veganising your childhoof favourites”, the brothers specialise in creating vegan versions of classic chocolate bars. The aim is to provide a sense of nostalgia through the bars they ate as children but with plant-based ingredients. Less sugar was added to the wafer bars without sacrificing any taste.

The bars aim to be as inclusive to as many consumers as possible by being free from gluten and dairy, two of the most common allergens. The bars in the Chocolate flavour will also be nut-free, with the exception of coconuts.

Trupo Treats using Rainforest Alliance Certified cocoa and wraps each bar in its own recyclable wrapper. Approximately 10% of the company’s profits go to animal sanctuaries and charities. Since the brand’s inception, Trupo Treats has donated over US$10,000 to animal sanctuaries.

Pre-orders for the bars have been launched on 15 August. Customers can go to the company website to order them.
