Sweet Talk: Christopher Dandridge, Managing Director, Savvy Sweets

What attracted you to this industry?

Regarding the confectionery space, that began with my brother-in-law, with his background in the successful Australian family business, sparked the idea. Together, we identified a potential opportunity to expand into the UK market, motivated by the increasing demand for healthier snack options and the trending interest in gut health and functional foods.

What was your first job?

I started out in the FMCG space selling beer at ABInbev back in 2015. Have always loved being involved with something tangible!

What’s your favourite way to spend a day off?

Definitely a round on the golf course or just getting out in nature to recharge and reset.

What’s the best advice you’ve received from someone?

Be patient and trust the process. It serves as a reminder to stay calm and resilient during challenging times, knowing that progress takes time and success often unfolds gradually.

Do you have a favourite book or film?

One of my favourite books is “The Alchemist” by Paulo Coelho. Its profound insights about following one’s dreams and the journey of self-discovery have left a lasting impact on me.

How would you describe yourself in three words?

Versatile, proactive, reliable.

Who or what inspires you?

I’m inspired by those who dare to dream big and work tirelessly to turn those dreams into reality.

Who would you meet, living or dead?

Tough one, but I would choose to meet Nelson Mandela. His unwavering commitment to justice, equality, and reconciliation serves as a powerful example of leadership and compassion.

If you could travel back in time, what period would you go to and why?

If given the chance, I’d journey back to the 1960s—a decade marked by incredible social change, artistic innovation, and cultural revolution. Experiencing the vibrant music scene, witnessing the civil rights movement and feeling the spirit of freedom and possibility would be truly transformative.

What’s a saying you live your life by?

One saying I live by is “In the end, we only regret the chances we didn’t take.” It reminds me to seize opportunities, embrace new experiences, and live life with courage and boldness.
