ProSweets Exhibitor Spotlight: Theegarten

From high-speed wrapping machines to innovative secondary packaging systems, Theegarten-Pactec will be showcasing their latest advancements at ProSweets in Cologne

German manufacturer, Theegarten-Pactec, has a long and diverse history with many years of forward-thinking providence in the packaging technology sector – for over 90 years, the company have established themselves as pioneers in the confectionery sector and continue to live up to their innovations for all performance levels today.

Small-sized confectionery programme

Theegarten-Pactec recently declared their aim to offer a complete selection of wrapping styles and performance levels for small-sized confectionery items. In order to meet this aim, the mid-sized family company has gone a long way based on many decades of experience and the know-how of more than 10,000 machines supplied.

The manufacturing programme is organised in a matrix meanwhile comprising more than 30 individual solutions, for the three main product categories which are hard candy and pre-formed products, soft and hard caramels, chewing gum and bubble gum (cut & wrap method) as well as chocolate.

Several additional food and non-food applications are also available. In each of these categories, the typical wrapping styles can be offered. In co-operation with their customers, the company develops new designs and solutions, for instance, to optimise the wrapping material consumption or to provide innovative solutions for the presentation at the point of sale. This also includes the use of ecological paper-based packaging materials and recyclable mono foils. For example, this has resulted in solutions for the high-performance packaging of confectionery in double twist wrap, flow packs or fold wrap.

Innovations for all performance levels

One of the key competencies of Theegarten-Pactec has been the development of continuous-motion high-speed machines. The EK4 is an efficient twist wrapper for high-boiled sweets reaching an output of 2,300 candies per minute. For hard and soft caramels, chewy sweets, chewing gum and bubble gum, the machine types WHF (fold wrap) and WHD (twist wrap), respectively, again are unmatched on the market with outputs of 1,800 pieces per minute.

In addition, the modular CHS high-performance packaging machine was specially developed for the gentle packaging of chocolate products and now achieves an output of up to 1,800 instead of 1,200 products per minute. The CHS is especially flexible with regard to the possible folding types: nine different folding types such as double twist, protected twist, top twist, side twist, foil wrap, envelope fold, bottom fold, side fold and Viennese fruit fold are possible without any problems whatsoever. Additionally, the machine allows quick changes of folding type and format within only four hours.

At the upcoming ProSweets, the CHS on display will be demonstrated using small chocolate products (Neapolitans) being wrapped in envelope fold at an output of 1,600 products per minute.

New directions into secondary packaging

Theegarten-Pactec has ventured into new territory by developing a secondary packaging machine that can keep pace for the first time with the high performance of their primary packaging machines. The new BLM now packs up to 2,000 individual products or 120 cartons per minute and is suitable for small to medium carton sizes. Finding a suitable cartoner in this high-performance range has been almost impossible so far.

All wrapping solutions of confectionery products will be highlighted in video presentations at the booth in Hall 10.1, Booth F011 at ProSweets in Cologne. Visitors will also learn more about the entire programme of wrapping machines and can discuss their packaging requirements directly.
