Non-GMO food colouring

Supplier of food colouring, GNT, has created a new portfolio of non-GMO Project Verified colours that eliminates the need for manufacturers to secure independent non-GMO approval.

Based on the idea of colouring food with food, GNT’s EXBERRY colours are clean-label concentrates made from non-GMO fruits, vegetables and plants using processing methods. The verification process for non-GMO products can be expensive and time consuming for food and beverage manufacturers.

The EXBERRY colours can be used to maximise appeal in confectionery products such as soft- and hard-panned confectionery, lollipops, fruit gums, aerated gums, marshmallows and chocolate, to provide them with bright, visually attractive colours.

In light of this, GNT’s 20 EXBERRY products are certified by the US’ only third party non profit verification initiative, as a product labelling and certification system to assure consumers products have been evaluated for compliance by an independent party with measurement tools developed by industry experts.

The butterfly mark, which is a visible certification given to luxury brands showing a commitment to sustainability in their areas of business, is found to be helpful by consumers who use it as a benchmark when seeking out non-GMO products. The recognisable verification label also allows manufacturers to reach a wider audience by sending a message of “trust, transparency and authenticity” to the consumer, according to GNT.

“As the food and beverage industry’s leading supplier of natural, plant-based colors, GNT strives to create a gold standard level of customer service,” explained Jeanette O’Brien, Vice President at GNT USA. “This Non-GMO Project Verified portfolio reflects our mission to save manufacturers time and money by doing the heavy lifting for them.”
