Bi-Ber has implemented several innovations in its optical inspection systems for empty mould check: additional interface options and software features as well as new hardware configurations. The Berlin-based manufacturer offers four standard models as well as tailored systems for empty mould check in confectionery production lines. Inspection systems with shorter cable lengths are now also available with USB3 cameras, as an alternative to the default, GigE cameras.
Besides a digital or Ethernet interface, Profinet is now available for connection to system controls. Moreover, Bi-Ber has integrated its standard software modules in addition to the existing application-specific display and analysis software. This adds various new abilities, including user-friendly image storage functions, which are increasingly being requested.
Also at customers’ request, Bi-Ber has implemented Pass/Fail marking not only for the entire mould, but also for each individual cavity. The four standard empty mould check systems are designed for lines with more or less available installation space and can be built with one or more cameras for moulds of varying widths. Cameras, lighting and a touch panel PC are integrated in a single or two separate stainless-steel cabinets, depending on the model. Recently, Bi-Ber has supplied the particularly economic C(ompact) system with two cameras for 640 mm wide moulds for the first time.
In 2021, Bi-Ber manufactured empty mould check systems for chocolate, jelly sweets and sugar candies for customer plants from Germany to Japan, including IP67-protected splash-proof versions. This brought the company its first double-double in this segment – with double-digit order numbers as well as shipped systems.
