Lindor-made world’s largest drum mixer successfully operated by world’s largest gelatin producer

Netherlands based food mixer supplier Lindor has successfully built world’s largest drum mixer and shipped all the way to US from its factory in Netherlands, which the company claims as an adventurous challenge.

With an unladen weight of 20,500 kg and a height of 4 meters, the mixer machine required special arrangements to reach its destination. Lindor had this huge machine transported by inland barge from the factory in Dordrecht to the port of Rotterdam.

From there, it was shipped to the USA. From the port on the east coast, this colossus was driven through six states, requiring a separate oversized load permit for each state.

The L25000 has maximum batch volume of 25,000 litres and a batch weight of approximately 20 tons. Lindor uses gentle touch technology which is important for gelatin and food companies.

One of its most important features is the extremely low mix energy (less than 2 W/kg) required. This is required to prevent breakage, dust formation and heating build-up. The latter is especially important because gelatin melts when heated.

The horizontal construction of the Lindor drum mixer was also important for this customer, as this made it easy to install into the production line.
