Fudge Kitchen are delighted to launch a brand-new flavour for 2025 following their highly anticipated New Year, New Flavour competition. The annual event is a chance for all six of their high-street shops to battle it out, putting their NPD skills to the test, to create a brand-new fudge flavour. The winning flavour is then rolled out throughout their stores and on the Fudge Kitchen website.
The New Year New Flavour Competition took place on Tuesday 11 February at Fudge Kitchen’s production kitchen in Aylesham, Kent with a brief for the teams to ‘Wow with Fudge’ from a visual, flavour and quality point of view. The twelve flavours entered included Cookies and Cream, Baclava, Strawberry Cobbler, St. Clement’s Cheesecake, White Chocolate Pistachio, Double Stuffed and Salty Liquorice.
An esteemed panel of judges included a range of Fudge Kitchen staff and Fudge Makers, along with four distinguished guest experts:
- John Mills – Passionate and highly skilled owner of The Foundry, Canterbury’s renowned craft brewery.
- Sam Ready – Editor of Inside Kent, bringing extensive experience in food and drink journalism.
- Matt Trott – Owner of Glass Fox Photography, specialising in capturing the artistry of food and hospitality.
- Phil Harrison – Owner of Bears Ice Cream Imaginarium in Whitstable, celebrated for his inventive flavour creations.
And the Winner Is…
York’s – Cherry White Chocolate Fudge
After a morning of tasting and much deliberation the winning fudge flavour was announced as Cherry White Chocolate – created by Fudge Kitchen York. The judges were captivated by its intense flavour, striking colour, and the innovative addition of well-tempered chocolate coating the slice. Comments from the judges included:
“Visually appealing and really hits the ‘Wow’ brief!”
“Looks great, strong flavour, and love the chocolate coating.”
The team at Fudge Kitchen York were delighted with their win and commented, “We’re so happy that our Cherry White Chocolate resonated with the judges this year – it really packs a flavour punch whilst also delivering the creamy texture Fudge Kitchen are famous for. The layer of white chocolate seriously levels up the fudge from both a visual and taste perspective and we’re super excited to start making it for our customers very soon!”
