Thew Arnott have taken the decision to join forces with Flo Chemical in order to launch Flo Zein to the European market.
Flo Zein is a range of natural corn protein films, which can be applied to a wide variety of nuts, which include walnuts, peanuts and roasted peanuts.
The film is designed to extend the shelf life of the products, and does this by locking in the moisture and oxygen, essentially acting as a microbial and insect barrier.
The range – which is vegan, gluten and lactose free – also includes Cozeen and Zein.
Control tests into the product have shown that the nuts that are coated in Flo Zein maintain a better aroma, texture and general appearance in direct comparison to products which have been coated with other plant-based coatings.
