A recent product launch has showcased the functionality and versatility of Huhtamaki’s FMCG food packaging portfolio. Printzells Confectionery AB, a small confectionery manufacturer established in 1961, has partnered with Huhtamaki to transition from traditional plastic packaging to recyclable paper alternatives. This collaboration underscores our commitment to developing products in partnership with our customers, regardless of their size and scale.
Approximately 18 months ago, our team received an email from Printzells outlining their need for paper cups and lids for their nut-based spread. The packaging required a protective barrier to withstand the product’s aggressive nature while also being suitable for local paper waste management systems.
This request aligned perfectly with Huhtamaki’s mission to provide fibre-based packaging solutions while supporting local enterprises. Understanding Printzells’ unique needs, our FMCG Team embarked on a collaborative journey to identify packaging that met their specific requirements.
Following extensive research and customer-side testing, a 300ml paper cup with the appropriate barrier and sealing properties was selected to support our customer. This cup is also well-suited for other food product ranges, such as yoghurt and dairy.
By transitioning to our paper cups and lids, Printzells can now offer consumers products that enable easy recycling. This shift enhances their brand image and positions Printzells as a responsible business.
The move from plastic to paper packaging marks a significant step towards Printzells’ sustainability goals. By adopting our paper-based solution, Printzells is actively promoting recyclability.
“Huhtamaki was the first company we contacted that could deliver both the paper cup and the paper lid.
Working with Huhtamaki has been great. This was a new field for us and we got strong support and information from Huhtamaki.
…We have received a really good response to this new product. Consumers today are much more informed and conscious about the environmental impact of their purchases,” says the customer representative.
We are proud to support our new partner in this responsible initiative. Printzells is setting an example for others in the industry, and we look forward to continued success and innovation as we help more businesses in their sustainability efforts.
