Arla Foods has announced the closure of its Melton Mowbray Creamery, known locally as Tuxford & Tebbutt, after an unsuccessful search for a buyer. The historic site, producing Stilton cheese since 1780, employs 60 people. The decision follows a review initiated in January 2024. Arla’s VP of production, Fran Ball, stated the priority is to support affected employees during this transition. This closure contrasts with Arla’s recent commitment to invest £300 million into other UK sites.
