Could you give us an introduction to Tanis?  

Tanis is dedicated to empowering manufacturers worldwide with the tools, expertise, and innovation needed to produce high-quality gummies and jellies, customised to their specific preferences. With a workforce of approximately 300 employees across the globe, we supply complete production lines and offer personalised support, driven by our continuously evolving expertise in both sugar and non-sugar confectionery and process technology. 

Headquartered in the Netherlands, Tanis designs and creates production lines for gummy and jelly manufacturers across international markets. To ensure optimal service in diverse regions and time zones, we collaborate with a network of agents who understand local markets and speak the language of our customers. 

Our main mission is to guide confectionery producers on an innovative journey to create their perfect products, with our vision to be the global benchmark for gummy and jelly production, continually advancing in craftsmanship, efficiency, sustainability, and full-service support. 

Tanis has a strong reputation for helping confectionery manufacturers achieve the perfect gummy and jelly textures. Could you walk us through the key elements that contribute to creating the ideal gummy or jelly? 

Tanis possesses all the knowledge and equipment necessary for producing gums and jellies. Our slogan, “Crazy about candy production,” reflects our passion for creating any shape, texture, flavour, or special ingredient our customers envision for their confectionery. We provide not only the equipment but also the expertise, guidance, and inspiration to bring their ideas to life. 

When developing a production line, the primary focus is ensuring the gummy or jelly the customer wants to produce is the ‘star’ player. Tanis has a fully equipped pilot line and lab where our experienced food technologists collaborate with customers to create the perfect product. If a recipe for the ideal product already exists, we ensure it runs seamlessly on our machines, and we can assist in further refining it if needed. 

The perfect gummy or jelly is entirely based on our customers’ and their consumers’ preferences. Whether they seek a soft, easy-to-chew jelly or a firm, elastic gummy—or anything in between—we tailor our approach accordingly. The sensory profile can range from bold, fruity flavours to subtle hints of vanilla. Shape and size also play a crucial role, whether it’s a small, simple design or a larger, multicoloured animal figure. 

Our process begins with a tasting session to determine the ideal direction. From there, we focus on selecting the best ingredients and fine-tuning the production process to meet specific needs. The final step is ensuring consistent quality with every batch, guaranteeing that the consumer experience remains consistent and repeatable, delivering the perfect gummy or jelly every time. 

Your production lines cater to a variety of confectionery products. How does Tanis ensure flexibility in its equipment to meet the different needs of confectionery manufacturers? 

Our production lines are highly versatile and can be easily upgraded to meet our customers’ evolving needs. For example, if a customer wants to expand into different gummy formats—such as side-by-side, centre-in-shell, or double-layer—we can quickly upgrade the pump to provide the desired capabilities. Additional options, such as different types of cookers, upgrades to increase output, or solutions to reduce downtime, can also be installed if needed. 

The necessary flexibility, whether for now or the future, is always discussed before engineering begins. This allows us to include all potential options or plan for future investments. Our goal is to ensure our customers are fully supported and prepared for growth.
