What attracted you to this industry?
Sweets bring joy and happiness to consumers. Therefore, being part of an industry that creates products that are purchased for a treat, celebration, holiday, or simply to enjoy at home is very rewarding. It also allows me to have a great deal of creativity in product development, packaging, design, and so much more.
What has been your proudest accomplishment?
The past 14 years at Swizzels have been so busy that I couldn’t pick just one. I am lucky to have worked on so many fantastic projects from creating Parma Violets cheese, adding messages of positivity and kindness to Love Hearts through to developing innovative products such as Squashies. However, I think my proudest ever moment is yet to come. I’m currently working on an exciting project that I can’t wait to share a little later in the year… watch this space!
What’s your favourite kind of sweet?
For me it absolutely has to be Love Hearts! I love the subtle fizzy fruit taste, plus the messages of love and kindness make me smile!
What’s your favourite part of your job?
I enjoy developing new sweets and creating brand new packaging, but the favourite part of my job is seeing the smile of people’s faces as they enjoy them!
What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?
I was told this by a good friend, and I have passed it on to others who find themselves struggling to make difficult decisions. It works for me: “Accept the things you cannot change, have courage to change the things you can, and the wisdom to know the difference.”
What three items would you take with you to a desert island?
Thinking practically, I would take some fresh water, a GPS phone so I can call for help when I want to leave, and Bear Grylls to keep me alive while I wait to be rescued!
What’s your favourite genre of book or film?
I enjoy a good docufilm!
Where in the world would you most like to visit?
I would most like to visit Japan to experience the cutting-edge technology, amazing architecture, and local cuisine.
Who or what inspires you?
The fast-changing pace of technology inspires me. The technological advancements and breakthroughs across various fields are pushing boundaries every day! This really inspires me but also reminds me that anything is possible!
