Countdown to interpack is on

At interpack this year (4-10 May in Dusseldorf, Germany) hot topics of the industry will focus on latest technologies and innovations, as the global processing and packaging industry comes together again.

“We are ready. All our exhibitors and partners are ready to go and we look forward to providing the industry with another great trade fair,” explained Thomas Dohse, Director of interpack.

interpack will serve as an “important building block” in the innovation cycle of the packaging and related process industries. After a six-year break since the last show, numerous innovations for all user areas will be on display representing the food, beverages, confectionery and bakery, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, non-food and industrial goods sectors.

Because requirements and framework conditions are constantly changing, the focus is on digital technologies and sustainable products and processes. ”

We notice very clearly the great determination of the industry to actively shape this transformation process,” added Dohse.

Exhibitors at interpack will be coming from all five continents, representing 60 countries in total. Top exhibiting nations are Germany, Italy, Chian, Turkey, India, the US, UK and more. A total of over 2700 exhibitors will be taking part.

With over 1000 exhibitors in the packaging sector alone, the focus will be on packaging materials, packaging supplies and packaging aids. As a cross-sectional area for all visitors, six in total are of central importance and will reflect the strength of the industry.

In addition to solutions made of paper, cardboard and paperboard, there will be new, sustainable materials in different variations all with a focus on sustainability. Plastic packaging, which has the largest share of the market, is of great importance, particularly for product safety and shelf life.

Developments in the packing sector illustrate which issues are at the forefront of the processing and packaging industry and its customers. Trends such as sustainability and digitalisation; economic, ecological but also political and social changes and challenges are of concern for companies.

Circular economy will be a top issue and poses major challenges in many areas. interpack will showcase sustainable processing and packaging solutions as well as digital services that helps to make production processes efficient and sustainable. For example, the focus is on reducing the carbon footprint of packaging throughout the value chain, improving energy efficiency and the increasing importance of reusable materials.

The exhibition programme will be complemented by features such as the Spotlight talks and trends lecture forum, the interpack Start-Up Zone, the Co-Packing joint both, several award ceremonies and others.

‘Every part counts’ is the motto of the components event, which will once again be held parallel to interpack in Hall 18. Here, machine parts and accessories, automation systems and components for packaging materials are presented. Approximately 80 exhibitors support companies in the packaging sector and the related process industry in achieving goals such as increasing efficiency, saving resources or digitalisation.
