2018 was a highly significant year for Volpak, a Coesia Group company, standing out particularly for its presentation of the SC+, a high-performance HFFS continuous motion machine that marks a real breakthrough in the pouching sector.
Meanwhile the order book for ENFLEX, Volpak’s entry-level brand specialising in medium-low speed machines continues to grow doubling.
Last but not least there is widespread market acclaim for a new pouch developed by the company under the name of STANDCAP Pouch, which won the “Technology Excellence Award – Dairy & Beverage” at the Pack Expo trade show in Chicago.
For forty years the most complete range of pouch packaging solutions, Volpak, looks back on 2018 with great satisfaction and is now preparing to face the challenges of the future armed with its formidable experience in the design, production and marketing of flexible pouching solutions.
The Spanish company, which celebrates its 40th anniversary in 2019, leverages a know-how to offer machinery for all flexible pouching needs at low, medium and high speed.
The solutions developed in Barcelona enable it to effectively cover a wide range of pouch types and formats based on different production needs; these range from simple “flat” pouches to stand-up pouches with closing systems that can be customized to requirements: for example top end or corner caps.
A good example of this flexibility is the SC+, the latest “Horizontal Form Fill Seal” machine born of close collaboration between the Volpak R&D team and the engineers at Coesia Center Engineering (CEC). This is an innovative continuous motion technology that is ahead of the field in terms of performance and flexibility and lends itself to many different product sectors including Dairy, Confectionery, Pet Food, Chemicals and many more.
The SC+ targets the requirements of the high up to 400 ppm end of the market, but the Spanish company’s portfolio is able to meet any type of need. For example ENFLEX, its brand with a range specialising in medium-low speed solutions, is aimed at clients with production needs based around smaller volumes but no intention of giving up on characteristics like sturdiness and reliability.
In 2018 Enflex proved once again to be a fundamental asset to Volpak, with 87% increase in its order books.
STANDCAP: one pouch, endless solutions
In 2018 the plaudits arrived not just from the clients. The Pack Expo trade show also underlined the level of interest in Volpak-designed solutions by presenting its STANDCAP pouch the Technology Excellence Award in the “Beverage and Dairy” category.
STANDCAP is one of the most iconic packaging forms produced by Volpak machines and offers a number of benefits for the final user.
These include superb ergonomics, a closure system designed to prevent product wastage and the functional benefit of perfect pack stability. STANDCAP also offers manufacturers an ample range of options to personalise the appearance and quality of their promotional message.
All this, together with the traditional characteristics of a pouch, gives extended shelf life and great practicality in use. These qualities make it an ideal solution for the Dairy sector, with further applications in many other liquid food sectors independently of product density.
STANDCAP is already widely appreciated in the US market, which retains its historical importance in terms of sales volumes and as an early adopter in the use of innovative solutions, with brands that use it to package sauces, dressings, yogurts and personal care products like gels and creams.
The prize received in Chicago adds to the list of accolades already won by the STANDCAP Pouch, which can also boast five previous awards at international level.
