Ritter Sport announces it is CO2 neutral

Ritter Sport, a brand of chocolate bar from the family-owned Alfred Ritter GmbH & Co. KG, which has its headquarters in Waldenbuch, Germany, has announced the company is CO2-neutral.

The company released a statement via its LinkedIn page which said: “We’re proud to be a CO2-neutral company! It takes not only passion and expertise to make our delicious chocolate, but also lots of energy. That is why we’re especially proud that we’ve now reached one of our central sustainability goals. Our path to climate-neutrality is based on three essential goals:

– Reducing emissions wherever possible
– Calculating the remaining CO2e emissions (includes all emissions harmful to climate converted as equivalent to CO2)
– Compensating for unavoidable emissions

Now we’re a climate-neutral company and that of course includes producing our chocolate climate-neutrally. An important element of doing the right thing to create really good chocolate.”

The company recently announced a chocolate bar made from 100% cacao. The bar contained natural cocoa juice is used for sweetening which Ritter extracts in an innovative process on its own El Cacao plantation in Nicaragua.
