Mars has appointed Dr. Abigail Stevenson as its Chief Science Officer. In her new role, Dr. Stevenson will lead Mars’ involvement in science discovery, driving external partnerships with academia, non-government organisations and peers. She’ll also be providing leadership for the Mars Science Leadership Team and reporting to Nici Bush, Vice President of Science and Technology for Mars.
Dr.Stevenson begins the role in October and will retain her responsibilities as Vice President of the Mars Advanced Research Institute (MARI). She will also oversee the Mars Global Food Safety Center (GFSC), a research and training facility at the centre of a network of partners and collaborators facing food safety challenges today.

In her career with Mars, Dr. Stevenson has overseen research outputs and delivered solutions to food industry challenges. She has served in multiple roles with the Waltham Petcare Science Institute, including Head of Science Communications and Engagement, and was Director of the Mars GFSC from 2017 to 2020 before she become Vice President of MARI.
