How Markem-Imaje is supporting the packaging industry

Markem-Imaje (MI) will be inviting attendees to experience its latest developments to support the packaging industry at interpack. These encompass smart codes, packaging intelligence and connected products – from manufacturing, through the supply chain to the end consumer.

Currently, manufacturers are facing a challenging environment of ever-increasing raw material and energy prices, increased regulatory requirements in traceability, and consumer demands for improved transparency and visibility of product information. In addition, sustainability KPIs, new packaging materials, and the circular economy add “interesting new elements” to both producers and retailers.

Visitors to the company stand will be able to enjoy a production line demonstrating the latest within laser, continuous inkjet, thermal transfer overprinting, large character inkjet, and intelligent print and apply labelling systems. The inline printing demo is fully integrated and managed by the company’s Packaging Intelligence suite which can be utilised to provide supply chain traceability.

MI will also be presenting its new, patented, Super Piezo Inkjet technology. The technology can print serialised 2D barcodes at high-speed on 3D surfaces. Visitors to the booth can also learn how the company can support manufacturers with implementing and complying with new regulatory requirements and standards such as the Food Safety Modernization Act, Digital Product Passport and GS1 Digital Link with serialised QR codes.

This year, for the first time, Markem-Imaje is co-sponsoring the first of interpack’s seven SPOTLIGHT Themes & Trends talks on Logistics: Optimisation in Uncertain Times, on the opening day, and will also deliver the keynote speech.

“It is a pleasure to be back 6 years after the last interpack. Despite the global challenges we are experiencing, industry and market requirements have not stopped evolving and we are happy to bring to interpack our best solutions to increase production efficiency, connect and protect products, reduce waste, and achieve sustainability KPIs. Our new set of solutions meet and exceed the demands of both the packaging sector and wider society,” commented Eric Barthélemy, VP Global Sales at MI.

“Markem-Imaje has invested heavily in innovation in recent years with a well-balanced mix of printing technology and software solutions but also connected services like our IoT-powered MiVista range of self-support and helpdesk printer services. Our new offering opens up completely new doors for producers to be on top of regulations, protect their brands and keep the consumer safe while also engaging with them through promotional actions and understanding user behaviour. We are excited and welcome the FMCG industry to our booth in May,” concluded Barthélemy.
