The International Confectionery Awards is proud to announce the appointment of Francisco Gómez, a globally recognised leader in sustainable cocoa production and fine chocolate innovation, as a judge for this year’s prestigious event.
Francisco brings over 23 years of expertise across the entire cocoa value chain. Trained as a Civil Engineer and holding a master’s degree in administration, Francisco has held several pivotal roles within the company, including Vice President of Production, VP of International Business, and VP of Cocoa Purchasing and Agricultural Development. He is currently CEO of Luker Agrícola, where he oversees entrepreneurial cocoa and oil palm plantations, agricultural research, and sustainability-focused integration of smallholder farmers.
Francisco’s commitment to advancing the global cocoa sector is unmatched. He has represented producing nations as a member of the Ad Hoc Panel on Fine or Flavor Cocoa Panel of Experts (2015–2019), advising the International Cocoa Organization (ICCO) on the export percentages of fine flavour cocoa worldwide. His tenure ensured that the unique contributions of countries such as Colombia, Peru, and Ecuador were effectively recognised.
As the only board member of the World Cocoa Foundation residing in a cocoa-producing country, Francisco has championed equitable development for more than 14 years. His direct relationships with farmers and ongoing efforts to address the challenges facing non-West African producers have made him a vital advocate for a diversified and sustainable cocoa future.
Francisco’s appointment as a judge brings unparalleled depth of insight to the International Confectionery Awards. His experience in scientific research, international market development, and ethical sourcing will be instrumental in evaluating entries that exemplify quality, innovation, and sustainability in the global confectionery sector.
The International Confectionery Awards continue to celebrate excellence and innovation in the world of sweets, chocolates, and treats. With judges like Francisco Gómez joining the panel, the awards remain a benchmark of quality and integrity in the global confectionery industry.
