Australian confectionery brand, Darrell Lea, has launched a new range of chocolate block versions of its classic treats, including Rocklea Road and Batch 37 Liquorice.
The company said it’s ‘taking on the biggest names in chocolates head on’ after transforming its iconic products into a block format for the first time in its 92-year history. The last chocolate released was its classic Rocklea Road.
Revamping the country’s favourite flavours, the much-loved treats Peanut Brittle, Fruitier & Nuttier, Peppermint Partytime and Caramel Craving have also been given a chocolate makeover.
Darrell Lea has developed a smooth ‘melt-in-your-mouth’ chocolate that will ‘guarantee more crunch, chunks, goo, chew and yum’ – and will be sure to delight chocolate aficionados everywhere.
Made in Australia and using 100% sustainably sourced cocoa, the blocks are filled with ingredients such as almonds, cranberries, toasted coconut pieces, plump marshmallows and chewy caramel fudge.
“We make some of Australia’s favourite confectionery products and we knew these would translate perfectly into a block format. We also thought we could improve on a few great flavour combinations … so we did,” CEO of Darrell Lea, Tim York said.
“It’s time the confectionery aisle got a shake up and we’re excited to be doing it. There has been a lack of well made, quality products that are exciting to eat.
“We are predominantly a liquorice business, which has dabbled in chocolate, but we plan to change that. Darrell Lea is now well and truly in core chocolate territory and it’s a thrilling place to be,” York added. “Australia has had a love affair with Darrell Lea for over 90 years and we are confident that this will continue with the product innovation we are exploring.”
