Julia Ocampo has 20 years of international experience in business and sustainability, she specialises in the sustainability of agribusiness based on the development of producer communities in Colombia. She is passionate about managing and implementing projects that value the work of small producers and take care of the environment.
As growing numbers of consumers become conscious of the environmental impact of sourcing cocoa and want to enjoy chocolate that is ethical, supporting cocoa farmers in addressing challenges and barriers remains vitally important.
In her session at Confectionery Live, Julia will explore how Luker is working with new generations of cocoa farmers towards a prosperous cocoa sector in Colombia via its sustainability initiative The Chocolate Dream.
She will explore the results and impact of its longest standing project, The Cacao Effect, which recently completed in 2023 after reaching and enriching over 6,000 rural families in Colombia. Looking ahead, Julia will discuss an exciting new project that Luker is starting next year, which builds upon the learnings of the Cocoa Effect.
