The British Pavillion team highlights their resilience, innovations, and the varying groups that will appear that ISM fair.
UK Exporters have had to show true resilience over the last year! With Brexit, supply chain issues, staff shortages and a lack of international travel it is never been harder to be in the shoes of a UK export team looking to sell their high-quality products around the world.
UK Food and Drink export figures released for Q3 2021 show that non-EU markets are beginning to show signs of recovery from 2020 losses, with exports up from 2020, and accounting for over 45% of all of the UK exports.
ISM has always been such a strong show for the UK with its excellence in traditional confectionery and biscuits, for emerging brands and those with products seeing strong growth in demand from consumers including vegan, free from and healthier options.
Sadly for 2022, the travel restrictions around Covid have taken their toll and a UK: German travel ban at the end of 2021 severely impacting on the ability of UK companies to take part.
Sandra Sullivan from PS8, the event delivery partner of the Food & Drink Exporters Association and organisers of the UK group commented:
“The UK group at ISM was 45 exhibitors strong until mid-December when travel from the UK to Germany was banned. With this ban still in place at the start of the Christmas holidays, there seemed little hope of us getting to the show. So, so difficult for everyone to plan around and resulted in the majority of exhibitors reluctantly choosing to cancel their stands.
But the good news is that a small number have returned and the Food and Drink Exporters Association (FDEA) and PS8 team will be at the show with a small UK group to meet with customers as usual in hall 4.2:
