ABB acquires Dr. Födisch Umweltmesstechnik AG Group

ABB has officially signed an agreement to acquire Dr. Födisch Umweltmesstechnik AG Group, a prominent German developer of advanced measurement and analytical solutions. This acquisition is set to significantly bolster ABB’s position in the continuous emission monitoring systems (CEMS) market, a crucial area as industries globally face increasing pressure to meet stringent environmental regulations.

The acquisition will see ABB integrating Födisch Group’s extensive portfolio, which includes continuous gas analysers and dust measurement solutions, into its own offerings. Födisch Group, headquartered in Markranstädt, Germany, operates a 3,000 m² production facility and additional locations in the Netherlands and China. With approximately 250 employees and annual revenues of around €50 million, the group has established itself as a key player in environmental and process measurement technology across various sectors, including power plants, waste incineration, and the paper, glass, and cement industries.

ABB’s President of Measurement & Analytics, Jacques Mulbert, highlighted the strategic importance of the acquisition, noting that it reinforces ABB’s commitment to providing advanced solutions that help companies monitor and mitigate emissions effectively. This move is aligned with ABB’s broader goal of addressing global energy and sustainability challenges through cutting-edge technology and innovation.

The integration of Födisch Group into ABB is expected to provide significant opportunities for both new and existing customers, leveraging ABB’s global distribution and service network to offer a more comprehensive suite of measurement and analytics solutions. This acquisition is not only a testament to ABB’s dedication to environmental sustainability but also a strategic expansion to meet the evolving demands of industrial operations worldwide.
