For over 30 years, Wallies Lollies has been a trusted name in Australia’s confectionery industry, supplying high-quality branded sweets to businesses nationwide. The company’s legacy began with a strong foundation – its founder, Otto Stapelfeldt, had experience as a sales manager at Red Tulip before its acquisition by Cadbury. That expertise and passion led to a family-run business focused on promotional confectionery, and today, Wallies Lollies continues to evolve with a strong commitment to sustainability.
As part of this evolution, Wallies Lollies introduced Logo Sweets, a brand dedicated to premium promotional confectionery, and Happy Worms, an initiative to promote sustainable packaging solutions. The company recognised the environmental impact of traditional plastic packaging, with metres of plastic waste produced daily. After a decade of research, they found the perfect alternative – TIPA’s compostable packaging.
“We knew we had to change,” shares Peter Stapelfeldt, Director at Wallies Lollies. “Our machines produced so much plastic, and we searched for an alternative for years. When we found TIPA, we knew we had a solution that aligned with our commitment to sustainability.”
Wallies Lollies now offers TIPA’s home compostable packaging for its Logo Sweets products, providing an eco-friendly option for customers who prioritize sustainability. Their clients, ranging from corporate giants like Commonwealth Bank to Telco’s, hospitality businesses, marketing agencies, and eco-conscious brands, have enthusiastically embraced the change. One customer, managing a vintage railway sector in NSW, is even implementing compostable bins at tourist shops to support the transition.
Beyond packaging, Wallies Lollies has integrated sustainable protective materials into its shipping operations, replacing polystyrene and plastic bubble wrap with air pillows made from paper and industrially shredded cardboard. These initiatives further reflect the company’s commitment to reducing its environmental footprint.
With its shift to TIPA’s compostable packaging, Wallies Lollies continues to lead the promotional confectionery market with an eco-friendly vision. “It’s a game-changer,” Stapelfeldt notes. “We’re making the industry sweeter – not just for our customers, but for the planet too.”
