EXBERRY by GNT has released its latest Sustainability Report for 2022 which showcases the company’s efforts and achievements in making its plant-based colours more sustainable for people and the planet.
This follows on from the company reporting on reducing its carbon footprint by 19% within a year of its sustainability plan, comparing figures of its carbon footprint from 2019 to 2021.
The report also reveals some of the challenges the company faced and how it overcame them. In addition, it highlights some of the new initiatives the company has launched in the past year such as its policy on Sustainable Sourcing and its Greenhouse Gas Verification Statement.
The slogan for this year’s report is, ‘Leading the food colour industry toward a better future’. Some of the key findings in the report show that GNT managed to reduce its carbon intensity by 13% compared with 2020; the company’s lost-time incident (LTI) rate increased to 3.5; the company published its Policy on Sustainable Sourcing with 70% of its suppliers meeting these standards and all of its contract farmers complied with good agricultural practices.
“We are proud of our progress in sustainability, but we are not satisfied. We know we have a lot more to do. We are committed to driving industry standards higher by aligning naturalness and sustainability,” said Rutger de Kort, Sustainability Manager at GNT Group. “Our plant-based EXBERRY colours are not only vibrant and high-performing, but also suitable for vegetarian, vegan, kosher and halal diets. They support visually appealing products that meet consumer’s expectations and demands on clean- and clear labeling.
“We invite you to read our report and join us in our journey to make EXBERRY colours the most sustainable choice for food and beverage manufacturers.”
